About the Book
Loud & Proud is an inspirational collection of speeches from the LGBTQ+ community that have changed our world, and the conversation.
This seminal collection places the loud and proud voices of the vibrant LGBTQ+ community centre stage. From equal marriage to gender definitions, bullying to parenthood, the issues covered in these speeches touch on all aspects of LGBTQ+ and reflect the diverse and multi-faceted nature of this community.
Curated by Google Creative Director, Tea Uglow, and featuring over 40 illustrated ground-breaking speeches that span history from 1867 to 2019, the words collected here are inspirational, imperative and empowering. Each speech is introduced by Tea, who explains the societal context behind powerful messages from remarkable members of the LGBTQ+ community including: Harvey Milk; Sir Ian McKellan; Sir Elton John; Wanda Sykes; Penny Wong MP; Justice Michael Kirby; George Takei; and moving contributions from Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton, among many others.
We are stronger when we stand together, and this collection encourages us to do just that whilst celebrating the beauty of our differences and all our rainbow hues.
